Hi ,
Firstly thank you so much to everyone who replied last week with future newsletter ideas. I have added them to a list and I'll get to all of them at some point. It's not too late to request topics though - just reply to this email if you think of something that you would like me to cover.
One parent asked me for an idea to help her son who experiences anxiety and has a lot of tension in his body. He uses breathing techniques but they would like a physical activity idea alongside this. The first thing that came to me is whole body shaking! I've put together a video demonstration here or you can click on the video play button at the end of this email.
Shaking therapy (basically giving your body a good old shake and wiggle!) is a fantastic technique to help with sensory difficulties. Here's why:
1. Muscular Tension Release: Shaking therapy helps release muscular tension, promoting relaxation and comfort.
2. Stress Management: It aids in burning excess adrenaline and calming the nervous system to its neutral state, which can be especially beneficial for managing stress.
3. Overall Wellbeing: Shaking therapy can improve mood, reduce stress on the body, and even boost immune function. Just like animals shake to release tension, shaking therapy helps people reset their bodily functions and find balance.
Another idea you might like to try is a vibrating chair massage pad. Here's a link so you know what I mean but it doesn't have to be this exact one, there are hundreds out there, this is just an example.
Do let me know if you try any of the ideas and they help you or your children, I'd love to hear about it.
Hanna
